This Privacy Policy explains what information ScorelineQuiz ("we", "us", the "App") collects, why, and what rights you have. ScorelineQuiz is a single-player football trivia game.
ScorelineQuiz is the data controller responsible for your information. For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@scorelinequiz.com.
We follow data minimization — we collect only what the game needs to work.
| Data | What it is | Why we collect it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nickname & device identifier | A nickname you choose, and a randomly generated device ID stored on your device. The ID is not derived from your nickname and contains nothing about you or your device. | To identify your game profile and save your progress. We do not require your real name. | Performance of a contract |
| Gameplay data | Your scores, guesses, streaks, completed categories, unlocked tracks, hint balance, daily usage | To run the game, leaderboard, streaks, and progression | Performance of a contract |
| Technical data | Basic request/log data such as IP address and app version, handled by our hosting provider | Security, abuse prevention, and keeping the service running | Legitimate interest |
| Push notification token (only if you enable notifications) | An anonymous device token from Expo/your OS | To send streak reminders and game notifications you opted into | Consent |
| Account email (only if you sign in) | If you choose to sign in with Google to save your progress, we receive your email address and a stable Google account identifier | To let you recover your progress on a new device or after reinstalling | Consent |
| Purchase records (only if you buy anything) | A record that a purchase occurred (e.g. premium, league unlocks) and a store transaction identifier | To grant what you paid for, restore purchases, handle refunds, and meet tax/accounting obligations | Contract / legal obligation |
| Advertising data | An advertising identifier and related data used by Google AdMob to serve the banner, the full-screen ad between categories, and the optional rewarded ads | To show the ads that keep the App free | Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland; legitimate interest elsewhere — see "Advertising" below |
| Usage measurement | An app instance identifier, basic device and app information (device model, operating system, app version, country), and a record of when the App is opened, when a question is answered and its position in the round, and when a category is completed | To understand how the game is actually played, where players get stuck, and whether our advertising reaches people who go on to enjoy it — see "Measurement" below | Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland; legitimate interest elsewhere |
We do not collect your real name, phone number, contacts, photos, or precise location.
We do not follow you across apps. The App uses one measurement tool — Google Analytics for Firebase — and it only ever reports what happens inside this App: that a question was answered, that a category was completed, and that the App was opened. It does not read your other apps, your browsing, your contacts or your location, and it is never told your nickname, your email address or anything you typed. See "Measurement" below, and "Advertising" for the ad formats and the advertising identifier. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the same consent form covers both, and your answer decides both. No ad ever interrupts a question or covers the game while you are playing a round.
Signing in is optional. The App works fully without it. Your nickname and device identifier remain how the game identifies you; signing in only adds a way to recover your progress if you change device or reinstall.
We do not sell your personal data.
We use trusted service providers ("processors") who process data on our behalf under data-processing agreements:
Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data. Google's advertising policies are at <https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads>.
The App shows three kinds of ad:
There are no ads between questions and no ad ever interrupts a question. We ask Google to limit ads to those rated suitable for a teen audience or below, matching the 16+ audience this App is aimed at. The App is not directed to children.
Ads are served by Google AdMob. Serving one involves an advertising identifier provided by your device.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google's consent form appears before any ad is shown. There you choose whether your data may be used to personalize advertising, and you can review each purpose and each ad partner individually. Your answer is your decision alone — refusing does not remove ads, restrict the game, or cost you anything: ads are simply chosen without profiling you.
You can change or withdraw that decision at any time in the App under Preferences → Ad privacy settings, which reopens the same form. Independently of it, you can reset your advertising identifier, or opt out of ad personalization for every app at once, in your device settings (on Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
Outside those countries no consent form is shown and ads may be personalized, which is the ordinary standard in those markets.
We record which rewarded ads you completed, so that a reward is granted once and cannot be claimed twice. That record is deleted with your account.
The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is actually played.
What it records. That the App was opened; that a question was answered, whether the answer was right, whether it was a score question or a trivia question, and which number it was in the round; and that a category was completed. Nothing else is sent. It is never told your nickname, your email address, your score, or anything you typed.
Why. Two reasons, and both are things we could not otherwise see. The first is finding where the game loses people — most players who start a category never finish it, and knowing *which question* they stop on is the only way to fix it. The second is that we advertise the App, and this tells us whether the people who arrive that way go on to play, so we are not paying to reach people the game is wrong for.
What it is joined to. Measurement uses an app instance identifier created on your device for this App alone. It is not your advertising identifier, not your nickname, and not your account — and it is reset if you reinstall the App or clear its data.
Your choice. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland this is governed by exactly the same Google consent form that governs advertising: if you refuse there, measurement is switched off along with ad personalization, and you can change your mind at any time under Preferences → Ad privacy settings. Outside those countries measurement is on, which is the ordinary standard in those markets. Refusing never restricts the game or costs you anything.
Our providers may process data on servers outside your country, including the United States. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
If you are in the EU/EEA (or UK), you have the right to:
How to exercise them: Use the in-app Delete account option to erase your progress and identity, or contact us at hello@scorelinequiz.com. Deleting your account removes your gameplay data and account identity. Note that purchases are tied to your Google/Apple store account and can be restored by you there; certain transaction records may be retained (de-identified) to meet legal obligations.
You can delete everything we hold about you at any time, without contacting us:
This immediately and permanently erases your nickname and device identity, your scores and guesses, your streaks, achievements, completed categories, and any unlocked content. It cannot be undone, and the deletion is final rather than a deactivation.
If you cannot access the App — for example you have already uninstalled it — email hello@scorelinequiz.com with the nickname you played under and we will delete the associated data for you.
What we keep: purchase records may be retained (de-identified where possible) where tax or accounting law requires it. Purchases themselves are held by Google Play or the App Store against your store account, not by us, and can be restored by you there.
ScorelineQuiz is not directed at children under the age required for digital consent in your country (13–16 depending on jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and personalized advertising is not directed at children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and restricted database access. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take appropriate steps to protect your information.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notified in the App.
